49 Bug Reports and Investigations
A useful bug report contains:
- OPALX commit or release and whether the tree has local changes.
- Compiler, MPI, platform backend, GPU architecture, and CMake options.
- Rank, thread, and device counts.
- The smallest input and supporting files that reproduce the problem.
- Exact launch command, complete error output, and expected behavior.
- Whether serial, OpenMP, and accelerator builds behave differently.
- A convergence comparison when the issue is numerical rather than a crash.
Do not attach private production data when a reduced synthetic input can show the defect. Large OPALX investigation files belong in opalx-documents/reports/<year>/investigations/, not in this manual.
