16.1 The BINNING Command

The BINNING command controls how particles are grouped into energy bins for solver and multi-bunch workflows that use energy-resolved sub-structures.

In practice, energy bins interact with:

  • DISTRIBUTION attributes such as NBIN and SBIN
  • field-solver settings that support energy-binned calculations
  • multi-bunch and restart workflows in OPAL-cycl

The chapter is short in the legacy manual and mainly exists to document the available command attributes and their interaction with solver setup.
